2016 Necessities : Camel Coat

Coat - Zara

(Similar here, here, here)

There's nothing like finding the perfect jacket to take you from grocery shopping, movie watching all the way to a fancy date night.

I have this jacket ready to go at all times, AKA it is hanging on the back of my chair everyday. Lately, I haven't been feeling extremely inspired by my closet, but that tends to happen mid-season (so…right about now). Thanks to this jacket, I can feel put together even by throwing on just a simple sweater and jeans with this camel coat on top.

So yes, if you're still on the hunt for a good winter coat … because you're just realizing its winter like me… I definitely suggest getting your hands on one of a Camel tone.

Roots RAW

Leather Jacket - Zara | Sweater - Roots Canada | Shorts - Zara | Shoes - Vans

Let's talk about #SweatStyle. I went through a phase (back in the day , pre-styleblogging) where I was obsessed with sweatshirts and sweatpants …not necessarily together, but I wore it enough that I could have called it my "style"…?

Anyways, thankfully I learned my lesson and eventually started to trim my closet of any excess sweaters/sweatpants that have outlived their potential. Now I carefully select any sweater or sweatpants I buy to make sure that they will look at least street style appropriate.

My favourite brand is of course Roots! I will and forever have them listed as one of the top tier sweater brands in the world. Recently, I was sent this boyfriend fit sweater from Roots' Raw Collection. This collection consists of un-dyed premium fleece fabric which allows you to either wear it in its original form or to add your own artistic twist to it.

I have been contemplating for a couple weeks now what to do with it, but am still hesitant to make my first mark! So I thought that I would shoot this sweater in its "rawest" state before I may or may not ruin it forever with my indecisive & very rusty/non-existant artistic skills…

I chose to pair this off-white sweater with this beautiful leather jacket to give this baggy sweater some shape and edge.

My tip: I find that pairing sweaters or sweatpants with some structured pieces helps you avoid looking like you just rolled out of bed !

So long story short - to all you closet or out of the closet sweater/sweatpant wearing lovers out there, there is a solution to making your cozy addiction look GOOD!

America's Best Racing

Hello there! I am finally back after a very inconsistent summer and hiatus for the past little bit. My apologies…but there are a lot of exciting things coming up and I cannot wait to share it with all of you.

First out of the gate (pun intended) is my wonderful experience at the Woodbine Racetrack this past Sunday. As to how I found myself among these beautiful horses and watching them race was all thanks to Dan Tordjman from America's Best Racing! Dan and his team set up this amazing opportunity for some Toronto bloggers/writers/influencers to experience a day at the races.

For me, I have never really been exposed to horse racing besides having maybe gone once or twice when I was very young. So when it came time to dressing for the event I was at a loss for inspiration/ and point of reference. Thankfully, I found these gorgeous pair of culottes from Topshop the other day and knew instantly that they were what I was going to wear. It ended up being quite chilly the morning of the race so I paired an oatmeal sweater with the blue vest for a full pastel look. And of course I had to wear boots to visit the stables!

The start of the day began with a tour of the stables and training facilities where we got speak with expert trainers, breeders and racing experts. We even got to get up close and personal with one of the most amazing horses in racing today- Escaper (See pictures below)! After the exciting tour, we had all afternoon to lounge, eat, drink, watch and bet on the races. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my Sunday and loved the opportunity I got to meet all these amazing people. Horse racing is such an amazing sport and everyone, if they have a chance, should check it out. I guarantee you will be amazed at how beautiful these horses are and the speeds that they race at.

Here are some pictures from my day:

That time Escaper got a little too excited...

We ended up becoming best friends though <3

The time we got a tour of the restricted area and found this fun sign!

Breathtakingly beautiful track
